Where Centuries Old Science Meets New Age Needs...

NATUROIL Skin Solutions

Aromatherapy is a centuries old practice of blending the pure essence of plant oils to provide therapeutic benefit for both the body and psyche. Aromatherapy dates back to the ancient Egyptians (1555 B.C.), who extracted oils from aromatic plants to treat illness and preserve and even embalm flesh after death.

The word "aromatherapy" is derived from the two words: "aroma"- meaning fragrance and "therapy"- meaning treatment. After the Egyptians, the Greeks and Romans expanded aromatherapy to include medicinal and cosmetic applications. As the bathing capital of the world, the people of Rome routinely oiled and massaged their skin with botanical oils. By blending the healthy application of aromatherapy with bathing, they created a sensual experience of nurturing, rejuvenating and relaxing the body and mind that many of us still seek today. Later, the country of India would incorporate aromatherapy into its 3,000 year-old practice of Ayurevadic medicine, which has enjoyed a recent resurgence in the 21st century.

It was not until the 1900s that scientists in Europe and Great Britain began to document and research the anti-bacterial effects of essential oils. Today, it is estimated that some 70% of the pharmaceutical drugs we purchase have been painstakingly designed to mimic the innate medicinal properties of plants whose patents can only be owned by Mother Nature!

Essential oils are often expensive to manufacture. Extraction of the oils is labor intensive and the quantity of plants required to produce a small amount of pure oil is enormous! For instance, it takes approximately 6 tons of orange blossoms to produce 1 kg. of neroli and 4 million jasmine flowers to produce 1 kg. of jasmine absolute oil.
